16th International AIDS Conference
The 16th International AIDS Conference, held in Toronto, Canada, in August 2006, operated a repository for AV materials related to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. "Two AIDS Music Videos from West Africa" were accepted for inclusioin in this repository. EAch of the videos features an original AIDS song produced by an artist who visited NMU in 2005-06. The first, SIDa, was created by WEst African pop diva Nainy Diabate of Mali. The second was created by Bernard Woma of the Bernard Woma Trio. The music videos were executive produced by Louise Bourgault. Jason Balas did videograpy and video editing. Sound recording/mix for SIDA by Nainy Diabate was supplied by Chuck Ganzert; sound recording/mix for AIDS by Bernard Woma was supplied by Pat Lakenen.
