The first annual ArtPrize exhibiton was a competitive, juried show open to all artists. It was a multi-venue exhibition in downtown Grand Rapids, with 159 venues participating, including galleries, museums, halls, businesses and outdoor sites. The show attracted international art world attention and sparked features and dialogue in a wide variety of national publications, including the New York Times. Cash prizes were awarded to the top ten artists, including a $250,000 first prize. A total of 1262 artists from all over the world were accepted into the show. Professor Letts was one of 29 artists selected, of over 1100 who applied to show, at the DeVos Place Convention Center venue.
