Merck/AAAS Undergraduate Research in Chemistry and Biology
Harriet Beaufort (1778 - 1865) and Louisa Beaufort (1780 - 1863), inquisitive Anglo-Irish writers for children and for adults in the later part of the long 18th century, and their inquiring texts have been lost to the literary, scientific, historical, Educational, and bibliographical records. Thus, they have been relegated to marginal status, if any at all, by bureaucratic entropy and scholarly indifference. This grant will help to fund trips to explore Beaufort family manuscripts, diaries, pocket-books, illustrations, and other rare, archival materials at the Huntington Library in Pasadena, California, and the Trent University archives in Ontario, Canada in my ongoing efforts to recover these two inquiring women.
