"Fro m Mali to Michigan: A Musican Bridge," is a 28 minute documentary highlighting the visit of West African pop diva, Nainy Diabate to NMU in Oct./Nov. 2005. The documentary also features location scenes concerning Mali''s music and culture. The visit of the pop star came as the result of contacts made by Louise Bourgault during the course of her Fulbright Research on AIDS music in Mali in 2003. Location footage was shot during this time. The documentary is co-producted of WNMU-TV. Louise Bourgault and Robert Thomson are the producers. Robert Thomson and Louise Bourgault edited the piece.
