Research in my lab aims to answer questions related to avian conservation, evolution, behavior and life history. At present I am investing most of my time, energy and research funds toward several different questions related to common loon (Gavia immer) biology. I work with many different collaborators for the field components of my work, but most of my and my students' energies go toward laboratory-based molecular genetic activities. In the past, I have worked with other species like Harpy Eagles and Black-capped Chickadees (and White-tailed Deer and Brook Trout), but for the time being we have enough work ahead of us with the various loon-based projects that we are trying to stay focused on that. With that said, I am always open to new collaborations and new students joining the lab.
