Abstract

The following thesis is a memoir, which describes my journey through layers of personal trauma by the physical act of walking. The thesis begins by exploring the personal trauma connected to the closure of my alma mater but moves into sifting through layers of childhood trauma. The thesis is broken into sections that move back and forth between the present experience of walking, and shifting into past memories that surface because of the experience of walking. The thesis explores questions of geographical and spiritual identity. Photographs are interspersed throughout the text to give the reader context for geographical location and shared collective memory.
