Abstract
This article discusses the oft forgotten 1913 trial of former president Theodore Roosevelt vs George Newett. This david and goliath battle between a small Ishpeming newspaper and the larger than life former president represented a turning point in Republican politics, as well as the public perception of Roosevelt and his alleged impropriety.
