Submission Guidelines for Celebration of Student Scholarship

Registration

To register for the Celebration event, students must submit an abstract by the stated deadline. All abstract statements must be in English and artist statements must address methods, materials, and inspiration for the creative endeavor. Please review and follow these guidelines before creating your abstract.

Deadline: Abstract submission window: March 4 through March 25, 2022*

*Abstract submissions received after this date will not be included in the event program and will not be included in event proceedings.

Product Submission

All work products must be submitted electronically, and may include

  • Posters: research in the sciences and social sciences to be presented via posters during the Celebration’s in-person event.
  • Creative written work: refers to fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry (adhering to the 5-page limit) to be uploaded and included in the event’s online presence.
  • Oral work: recorded scholarly research presentations or oral works to be uploaded and included in the event’s online presence.
  • Art work: digital image to be uploaded and included in the event’s online presence.

The Library/Archives Research Award provides a $500 award for an undergraduate student for a project that effectively uses resources from the Lydia M. Olson Library and/or Central Upper Peninsula & NMU Archives. Specific submission guidelines are provided for this award.

Deadline: April 10, 2022 at 11:59PM**

**Product submissions (or re-submissions for changed content) received after this deadline will not be considered for monetary awards and, depending on time constraints, may not be included in event proceedings.

Printing

Where: Once you have uploaded your poster in Commons, follow the link below to submit your poster file to Printing Services. You are responsible for picking up your printed poster and bringing it to the event venue according to delivery instructions below.

When: The deadline for electronic submission of your poster to Printing Services is 11:59PM, Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Cost: Printing Services will charge your student account $35 to print each poster. The first 25 students to submit their final poster files for the event will not be charged.

Delivery to event venue: Bring your poster to the Library for set up [insert time]. Posters will be clipped to foam core and displayed on easels and grouped according to college throughout the first floor of the Library.
