Abstract
Northern Michigan University department of Continuing Education has been a provider of motorcycle safety Education to the West Central Upper Peninsula since 1986. NMU acts as the fiscal agent and grant administrator providing a central repository of all program records. During 2009, NMU provided training for nearly 400 students and as in past years, demand for the motorcycle Education courses exceeded the availability of course offerings. We continue to have waiting lists and again anticipate serving approximately 400 students in 2010. The facilities used are either technical schools, high schools, universities, community colleges or intermediate school districts. They all have an adjacent or nearby classroom facility. All seven ranges will meet MSF requirement for the 2010 season. Northern Michigan University has provided an exemplary motorcycle safety Education program for over 20 years. Our Rider Coaches are experienced, dedicated to safety, and share the passion to ride. We will continue to be an excellent example of how to facilitate quality services to a vast, rural region.
