Abstract
The interplay of commutativity and associativity in Moufang loops is well known, e.g., the many associator identities and inner mapping identities involving commutant elements, especially those involving the exponent three. In [7] we investigated all of this in the variety of Bol loops. Here, we investigate this in the much more general setting of arbitrary magmas. We also investigate the notion of Moufang elements in an arbitrary groupoid, thus generalizing the work in [8]. Along the way, we introduce a number of new submagmas of any given magma.
