I am interested in the environmental chemistry of heavy metals and metalloids, such as antimony, arsenic, bismuth, mercury, and silicon. Recently, new analytical methods have been developed which allow the study of several different chemical species of these elements at trace levels, and I employ these methods to elucidate their chemistry. My research interests include the chemistry involved in the metabolism of metals by microorganisms; I am also interested in improving the current method of analysis, and the study of the chemistry of metals in other living systems.
