Abstract
Doves Don’t Fly Here is a speculative fiction short novel that experiments with the physical presentation of text while exploring the complicated, evolving relationships between Latinx Catholicism, Santería/Regla de Ocha, queerness, and familial and ancestral ties. Within the novel, stylistic choices are made to implement surrealist elements into the spiritual dreams of its main character, Giselle, to conjure and test the boundaries between dreams and reality and what it means to be haunted.
